My #1 Tip if You Are Building a Growing Business

You started a business! Yay you! That in itself is not an easy task, and it’s SO much work!

Maybe you just started or maybe you’ve been doing this for a decade. Either way, I have a tip that is going to help you so much in the long run.

Eventually you’re going to grow.

Maybe you’ll grow to have employees or just add more clients, services, products, etc. (whatever it is that your business does!) but the goal is likely to grow this business into something bigger - somehow.

This tip I’m about to share with you is NO extra work on your part, but it will make your life incredibly easier later on as you grow.

Think about how many tasks are on your list on a daily basis. The invoices, blog posts, social media, engagement, product creation, digital organization, email management, website updates, and the list goes on and on and on and on.

Here’s what you do.

Use something like Loom to take a video of your screen the next time you complete one of these tasks. While you’re completing this task that is something you do regularly, you can speak through the steps and things you do to complete it. That way, when you eventually want to hire an employee or outsource this task to someone else, there is no training required! You can send over the video, have them watch it, and complete the task on their own. You don’t have to worry about teaching step by step what to do on this task that you’ve already done a hundred times yourself.

I don’t have any affiliation with Loom, I just love it! I do this in my own business all the time! I have a couple Virtual Assistants that work with me. When I have a task that I know I will eventually pass on to one of them, I take a video of me completing it while speaking through it. They can watch it and ask questions to complete it themselves. It’s really great for visual learners who want to see the steps as I’m doing them and I also add the written directions to the task I’m assigning so those that want to read about it can do that too while having access to the video.

The other nice thing about doing this is that the videos can stay in your archive for people to reference back to when needed or when you shift to someone else completing this task. I’ve even had clients leave and come back and their videos are saved, that way I even get to see exactly how we did it in the past. It helps so much with seeing how we set up the process and how we can make it better now. I use it for all of my clients as well as my own business tasks too.

All of this work is done for you!

It doesn’t matter what type of business you have, this will help you in the long run! Let me know if you try it out!
